Beginner Gardening

I’m really doing it, y’all!  I’m gardening!

I’m so excited about this little 4×4 plot.  So far I’ve planted swiss chard and spinach seeds. I got some great info at a free Starting From Seed lesson at North Haven Gardens, and felt really empowered when I left!  I can do this!  Vegetables, here I come!

Meanwhile…

My mushroom crop has started coming in!  These are the first two sizable shrooms I’ve gotten, but more are definitely on their way.  They almost double in size every day!

Between the mushrooms growing in my pantry and the reading I’ve been doing on growing bean sprouts, growing food is really something anyone can do!

  1. How fun!! I used to have a garden when I had a large patio, but now my apartment is too small unfortunately :( It was so much fun to keep track of everything and finally see things bloom! Good luck :) :) Have a great day!

    • It really is exciting. Mine is set up in my boyfriend’s sideyard, but I’m convinced there are more things I can grow in my small space. Research and blog post are in progress!

    • Yah! I asked for a mushroom growing kit for Christmas and it’s working great. I had some of my mushrooms in a salad today for lunch!

You can get all different fancy shrooms but I’m growing regular white button ones. They are much bigger than the ones I see in stores, though. :) Good luck!
